Who we are
The AFLC is a fellowship of independent congregations, who have chosen to be interdependent for the purpose of accomplishing service in the Kingdom of God that cannot best be done alone. The Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC) was organized in 1962 by 40-50 congregations of the former Lutheran Free Church (LFC), and has grown to become a Lutheran church body in the United States with over 265 member congregations.
Maranatha was incorporated in October 1972 by founding pastor James Gerdeen.
"Maranatha" means "our Lord Come”, I Cor. 16:22. These are troubling times. Jesus maybe coming back soon. We need to be watching and ready.
WE BELIEVE....
1. We believe and confess that the Holy Bible is the Word of God, revealed for our salvation and is the only source and rule of faith, doctrine and life.
2. We believe and partake in the Holy Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
3. We accept the Lutheran Confession of Faith as being in conformity with the Word of God.
4. The ever conscious purpose of this congregation is to seek to establish, nurture and to extend the Kingdom of God in the minds and hearts of its own people, among our unsaved neighbors and through active support of missionary, evangelical, educational and charitable efforts to help spread the Good News of personal salvation through Jesus to "the ends of the earth", (Matt. 28:19-20).
5. The source and means of spreading the Good News in our services is the preaching of the Gospel and the teaching of the holy Scriptures.
6. This congregation seeks to cultivate faithful members to be witnesses "known and read of all men". (II Cor. 3:2)
7. We support the AFLC Bible College and Seminary in Minneapolis, MN.
